International Social Emotional Learning Day

March 8 is International Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day. This annual event provides an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of social and emotional learning for all. The theme this year is “Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Leaders,” and with the future on their mind, fifth graders at Woodglen Elementary School discussed their upcoming transition to middle school with school psychologist Meredith Grant. While sharing some of their concerns and what they’re most excited about, the Clarkstown CSD learners were visited by Rosie, a Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause therapy dog, whose presence helped alleviate stress and offered emotional support. Before her visit ended, Rosie made a surprise stop into Andrea Kalter’s second grade class for paw-sitive encouragement!
